Birthday Suit

I’ve always been a little bothered by the high price of a handmade bike. But, the fact of the matter is that there isn’t any way around the high price when you get into a handmade, fillet brazed frame or bike with custom powder/paint jobs. The Birthday Suit tries to address this with a base price of $4,400 (including standard shipping to the Lower 48).

Part of this reduced pricepoint is the naked, unfiled fillet brazed frame. First off, it looks cool. There aren’t too many naked bikes out there and even fewer fillet brazed ones. The naked frame also means you can abuse it on the trail without sweating the expensive paint job. Want to use it to commute to work and go out for a beer after? Fine, you can leave it locked up downtown without any worries of someone stealing it. “What about rust?” you ask: the high chromium content steel tubing is very resistant to any penetrating rust. Plus the outside is oiled and the inside of the frame is treated to prevent rust. No joke.

The Birthday Suit is designed with bikepacking in mind. It comes with over-sized bottle cage and mounts under the down tube and a removable webbing strap for easy mounting of a front roll bag. It also comes equipped with integrated mounts for a bolt-on frame bag or top tube bag.

A bike is only as good as its components, and we didn’t skimp there, either. Component include a Rockshox Pike RCT3, Rockshox Reverb dropper, DT Swiss 350 hubs, Shimano XT brakes, and SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain. See the full component list below.
